How do I add a meta tag to my website?

To validate your ownership of a web page, miiCard checks that you are capable of making changes to its HTML.

Add the HTML code provided in the Wizard in the Web section of your miiCard account to your webpage. The tag must appear with the first 10 kilobytes of HTML for miiCard validation. Add the tag at the top of the elements in the <head> section of your page.

For example, if your page looks like this:

<html>
  <head>
    <title>My website</title>
  </head>
  <body>
    Hello, world!
  </body>
</html>

Then add the meta tag as follows:

<html>
  <head>
    <title>My website</title>
    <meta name="miiValidation" content="your unique validation string here" />
  </head>
  <body>
    Hello, world!
  </body>
</html>

Leave the <meta> tag in place as miiCard regularly rechecks your website to keep your validation up to date.

The <meta> tag must go onto the page served when miiCard requests the URL you are validating. For example, if navigating to http://example.com actually renders http://example.com/index.htm then you must add the tag to the head section of the index.htm file.

If you are validating ownership of a blog or similar site, you may need to add the <meta> tag to the template that is used by your blog software. Please contact your service provider for more information.
