2-Step Verification, also known as 2-Factor Authentication, is an extra security measure used to protect your account.
With miiCard the first factor we use to authenticate you is your miiCard account login details (username and password). This is information only you know (do not share these details with anyone).
The second factor is the device you've chosen to use for 2-Step Verification. We tie this to your miiCard when you create your account. This device, by default, is a cell phone that we use to send SMS text messages containing 6-digit pass codes that you then enter on your screen. Alternatively we also offer 2-Step Verification using Toopher or YubiKey.
Together these 2 steps, insisting on both something you know and something you have, help to verify that it is you accessing your miiCard account. miiCard asks you to pass 2-Step Verification when you want to make changes to your account and when you signup to new third party services using your miiCard but you can also ask miiCard to request 2-Step Verification on every login and on every connection with third party services.
